Arizona school online for free for disability accomodation

Does your student face challenges that create additional hardship at a brick and mortar high school? An illness, disability, or perhaps social anxiety? Or are you concerned about negative influences and school safety? If you are currently looking for ways to help your student become the successful student they are capable of being, Hope High School Online is passionate about providing students a high-quality education tailored to each student’s unique needs. Our free Arizona school online gives students a flexible opportunity to work hard towards the future they want in an environment best suited for them and their parent.

A Learning Environment For Every Student’s Specific Need

Students with learning disabilities, physical or mental disabilities, or chronic illness often find it difficult to succeed in a traditional public school setting. Sometimes programs aren’t available, teachers are unable to give the personalized support needed, or students may struggle with the environment they are learning in. Over 30% of students have a learning disability that may hinder the learning process if not accommodated. Dyslexia, ADHD and anxiety disorders are just a few of the disabilities that need personalized attention from teachers. Hope High School Online wants all students to be successful. We are committed to individualized and unique instruction that accommodates many of the disabilities students experience.

Physical and medical disabilities may hold a student back from their full potential when they are in an unsupportive environment. 14% of students have health impairments that influence their academic journey. Students with health conditions such as epilepsy, severe allergies, physical disabilities, chronic illness or unmanageable anxiety suffer in circumstances that are not unique to them. A flexible schedule and personalized teaching give students a learning environment that is beneficial for their unique learning needs. Having the ability to learn at home, or during a hospital stay, can be life-changing for students and their parents when health needs to be a priority.

We Work Alongside Parents Towards Their Student’s Accomplishments

Research illustrates ways parental involvement can promote positive education and healthy behaviors among students. Hope High School Online knows how important it is for parents to be involved, and works closely with both student and parent for the betterment of the student’s education. Education is very important and students, regardless of their situation, should have the opportunity to prepare themselves for the future they want. Read more HERE on how we involve our parents in their student’s education.

Arizona online school

Have you ever found yourself studying the night before a big test, cramming as much information as possible, only to result in a mediocre grade? By understanding the levels of learning, you can fight procrastination and be a thriving student at an Arizona online school. At Hope High School Online, we are committed to students achieving their very best. We work hard to help students find the their own personal learning style to maximize academic performance.

Dr. Benjamin Bloom’s Levels of Learning

Dr. Benjamin Bloom created Bloom’s Taxonomy in 1956 to promote higher forms of thinking in education instead of just remembering facts for a test. The categories of Bloom’s Taxonomy can be considered as degrees of difficulty.  Students must master one category before the next can take place. Students can follow the six taxonomy domains for more productive and active thinking when studying for their classes and preparing for tests. The categories are described below:

Creating – Build or put together information to create a new meaning or structure. Rewrite, redesign, or revise learned material to your own ideas to have a deeper understanding.

Evaluating – Make your own judgments about the ideas and information being learned. Think about how you would critique, defend, evaluate, interpret, explain, and relate to a situation.

Analyzing – Separate materials or concepts into individual parts to be better understood and distinguish between facts and inferences. Troubleshoot a problem, gather information, or run tests to break down the information.

Applying – Use a new concept in a real-life situation to integrate classroom learning into everyday life.

Understanding – Comprehend the information by translating or interpreting in your own words, by rewriting or explaining steps out-loud.

Remembering – Recall previously learned information by reciting and quoting the information from memory.

Choose Deeper Learning Over Cramming For A Better Education

Cramming information last minute is always a stressful way to prepare yourself for a test or assignment. It also robs you from having a deeper understanding of the material you are learning to benefit your future. Students can follow Bloom’s Taxonomy levels of learning to take advantage of their opportunity to learn and make their education positively impact their future. Scheduling a short block of time every day to study, creating a distraction-free workplace, and being fully engaged in your online education means better tests scores and less anxiety. Hope High School Online wants to help you set up your unique and personalized learning to prepare you for the future you want!

Love & Logic Wins!

One of the biggest hurdles facing our educational system, whether public or private, is the matter of classroom management. Because we are in a season of ever-changing social mores, children are growing up and being taught how to act from many different lists of standards. What was a typical classroom expectation in prior generations now is ineffective or inappropriate? Needless to say, parenting and teaching have become increasingly difficult. We need a game-changer to help us with this daunting task and Love and Logic is a strategy focused on providing support for teachers or parents.

What is Love and Logic?

Love and Logic is a philosophy giving adults the power and skills to instruct children under their care. By providing tools to both the adults and children, Love and Logic allows the lines of communication to open up in a healthy way creating a clearer understanding of the expectations presented. This then frees up children to grow through their mistakes, live with the consequences of their choices, and learn to own their responsibilities. Consequently, putting the adult back in control of the situation with an emphasis on respect and dignity events are minimized. The results of this win-win position allow the adult to resume their work and it prepares young people to live in the real world.

How Does One Begin?

They recommend starting out slowly and choose one of the many techniques offered. For example, neutralizing an argument with the “brain dead” technique is powerful and works. So what is being braindead?  This is where the adults instead of engaging with the argument just response with a short but empathic response. An example might go something like, “ Oh that’s really sad” or “What a bummer.” The second part of this technique is difficult because then you have to walk away. By not engaging it gives the child the opportunity to figure it out for themselves and then they can only blame themselves for their decisions and results.

When Can You See Results?

Within the first application of Love and Logic, changes will occur in the child. The investment of time and money is small compared to the results achieved. On the website, they have wonderful examples of success stories to inspire you. Also listed are workshops, DVDs and blogs to walk you through the application of the techniques. If you feel like you are losing the battle with your child, think about changing it up with Love and Logic before you lose your mind!

Discover Your Growth Mindset

There’s a catchphrase, “Having a Growth Mindset” buzzing around these days. It seems banal at first thought, but after pressing in, it is very thought-provoking. A growth mindset drives motivation and achievement. These are two things we want to see in our students so they can be successful in their futures. How can we understand this tool so we can capitalize on its application increasing achievement? Let’s begin to unpack this concept in the context of education.

Mindsets are beliefs about yourself and your most basic qualities, your intelligence, talents, and personality. Everyone is born with them and these things can either be in a mode of growth or fixed in position.

The fixed mindset creates an emotional loop where one needs to prove itself over and over. They have been told/evaluated that they are at a certain level and it can’t change. So every situation calls for a confirmation of their intelligence, personality, or talents to be accepted or rejected. Every situation is evaluated: Will I be successful or not? Will I look dumb or smart? This loop becomes the driving force to just maintain.

This growth mindset is based on the belief that your efforts can cultivate your basic qualities. Even though people possess traits at different levels, everyone can change and grow through effort and experience. A person’s genuine potential is unknown; it’s not static or fixed. What can be accomplished with years of dedication, effort, and education is impossible to foresee. So with the growth mindset, making choices to better their lives rather than continuously proving one’s greatness, stretches the individual. Why hide deficiencies; it’s time to overcome them. This ability for expanding yourself and staying with it, even when it’s not going well, is an indication of the growth mindset.

This growth mindset, as well as many other tools, are used to support your learner. A comprehensive approach to learning and academics helps students be confident and successful long after high school. If you are caught in that fixed loop and it’s time for a change, use live chat on our website or give us a call at 602.674.5555.

  • Turning off electronics, like your computer, when not in use saves a lot of energy. Also, remember to turn off lights when leaving the room as well to conserve energy and cut down on electricity costs.

Arizona virtual high school

Being yourself, wearing the “wrong” kind of clothes, taking pride in a grade or assignment – anything can be picked on by other kids. Bullying leaves lasting hurt, and can negatively impact a teen’s academic performance. Nearly 50% of students have been bullied at school, and 70% of students have seen others bullied. In a traditional school setting teens may not be able to escape the negative atmosphere they are facing, but enrolling in an Arizona virtual high school gives the opportunity to learn in a safe and positive environment.

Hope High School Online is pleased to offer free, accredited, and high-quality online high school education where students are empowered to take charge of their education, free from negative distractions.

How Bullying Negatively Impacts Academic Success

Sadly, bullying has become an increasingly prevalent problem in public schools. It affects not only the emotions and confidence of teens but also their grades. UCLA published a study about the link between low academic achievements and bullying. Teachers were asked to rate the level of engagement and academic performance of their students. Students were asked to rank how often they were bullied and make a note of which students in their class were bullied the most. Three years of data were collected.

The study illustrated that low achievement and lack of class participation can be linked to the fear of being bullied due to the high incidence of bullying in the public school environment. The lead author of the study concluded, “students who are repeatedly bullied receive poor grades and participate less in class discussions.”
