Levels of Learning That Can Help You Thrive in Arizona Online School

Arizona online school

Have you ever found yourself studying the night before a big test, cramming as much information as possible, only to result in a mediocre grade? By understanding the levels of learning, you can fight procrastination and be a thriving student at an Arizona online school. At Hope High School Online, we are committed to students achieving their very best. We work hard to help students find the their own personal learning style to maximize academic performance.

Dr. Benjamin Bloom’s Levels of Learning

Dr. Benjamin Bloom created Bloom’s Taxonomy in 1956 to promote higher forms of thinking in education instead of just remembering facts for a test. The categories of Bloom’s Taxonomy can be considered as degrees of difficulty.  Students must master one category before the next can take place. Students can follow the six taxonomy domains for more productive and active thinking when studying for their classes and preparing for tests. The categories are described below:

Creating – Build or put together information to create a new meaning or structure. Rewrite, redesign, or revise learned material to your own ideas to have a deeper understanding.

Evaluating – Make your own judgments about the ideas and information being learned. Think about how you would critique, defend, evaluate, interpret, explain, and relate to a situation.

Analyzing – Separate materials or concepts into individual parts to be better understood and distinguish between facts and inferences. Troubleshoot a problem, gather information, or run tests to break down the information.

Applying – Use a new concept in a real-life situation to integrate classroom learning into everyday life.

Understanding – Comprehend the information by translating or interpreting in your own words, by rewriting or explaining steps out-loud.

Remembering – Recall previously learned information by reciting and quoting the information from memory.

Choose Deeper Learning Over Cramming For A Better Education

Cramming information last minute is always a stressful way to prepare yourself for a test or assignment. It also robs you from having a deeper understanding of the material you are learning to benefit your future. Students can follow Bloom’s Taxonomy levels of learning to take advantage of their opportunity to learn and make their education positively impact their future. Scheduling a short block of time every day to study, creating a distraction-free workplace, and being fully engaged in your online education means better tests scores and less anxiety. Hope High School Online wants to help you set up your unique and personalized learning to prepare you for the future you want!
